Magnus Eze, Enugu

Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, Governors Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), Willie Obiano (Anambra), David Umahi (Ebonyi), Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu) and Rochas Okorocha (Imo) as well as Senators and ministers from the South East are some of the dignitaries expected at the South East summit on restructuring holding in Awka, Anambra State, today.

Other expected dignitaries from the region include former governors, ex-ministers, House of Representatives members from the zone, top politicians, traditional institutions, the academia, South East professionals and other interest groups, including youth and women organisations.

Former deputy governor of Ebonyi State and Secretary of the Prof Chukwuma Soludo-led Organising Committee, Prof. Chigozie Ogbu, told Daily Sun, yesterday, that all was set for the historic event taking place at the Ekwueme Square, Awka.
Since the programme is organised by the Ohanaeze Ndigbo, in collaboration with the South East Governors’ Forum, Ogbu said it was left for the various state governments to send their contingents.

Ekweremadu will lead senators from the zone to the event which has business mogul, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu as chairman.

Former Commonwealth secretary general, Emeka Anyaoku, would be absent as he is presently out of the country.
The organisers also said the programme will commence with a short interdenominational service, to be conducted by the

South East Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).
President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Nnia Nwodo, said the event will articulate the South East’s position on restructuring.
