Christian Pulisic on Liverpool links (video)

Christian Pulisic has yesterday, during an interview with ESPN, responded to the rumours linking him to Premier League side Liverpool.

A rising star

Despite being just 19 years of age, Christian Pulisic is becoming one of the most talked about young talents in the footballing world.

The American born winger has been in Borussia Dortmund’s youth system since 2015, before stepping up to the first team in January of 2016.

Since debuting for Dortmund’s first team Pulisic has been a joy to watch. The winger has already racked up an impressive 97 first team appearances for Dortmund, scoring 12 goals and assisting 20 in that time.

The American also helped guide Dortmund to the 2016/17 DFB-Pokal Cup, all at the age of just 19.

Should Pulisic move to Liverpool?

Even though Pulisic has a very impressive resume for someone so young, it is hard to see him breaking into Liverpool’s front three at this time.

Especially given the season Liverpool’s front three have just had. In all competitions in the 2017/18 season Robert Firmino played 53 games scoring 27 and assisting 17. Sadio Mane played 43 games scoring 19 and assisting nine. And Mohammed Salah played 51 games scoring a ridiculous 44 goals as well as assisting 16.

Those numbers are simply outstanding and it is hard to see anybody else replacing Liverpool’s current front three anytime soon.

So, if Pulisic were to move to Merseyside this summer, he would likely spend much of the season as a substitute.

At Pulisic’s age that is probably not what is best for his career. And given that he made 42 appearances in all competitions last season for Dortmund, a lot of which were as a starter, if Pulisic does want more game time, he is probably better off staying in Germany, for the time being.

What Did Pulisic have to say?

Pulisic gave quite a vague response when asked about a potential move to Liverpool. You can watch the full video here.
